Description

This bright cerulean blue satin brocade, deadstock robe or dressing gown dates from the 1960s. The Asian-inspired style is evident in the stand collar, triple-spiral frog closures, and high side slits at the hem. The lovely, mid-weight satin brocade fabric has an Asian-style floral pattern woven into it. The collar, front opening, sleeve hems and the edges of the 2 hips pockets are all trimmed piping in a slightly darker shade of blue.  The three-quarter-length sleeves widen a bit towards the cuffs. The overall shape of the robe is also flared gently, from bust to hem, with vertical darts shaping the shoulders and upper bodice. It is intended for a loose fit, as reflected in my measurements. The dressing gown or robe is fully lined in lightweight plain weave turquoise fabric that I believe is also a blend of silk and rayon. It is in excellent condition, with 1 minuscule mend (by me) at the back of the piping on the collar (see close-up photo).  Never worn, with the string remnants of its original hangtag still attached, this 1960s dressing gown or robe will be perfect for elegant lounging, or could double as a fancy jacket or evening coat.
