ON HOLD FOR M

I am going to call the color of this 1950s cotton wrap dress by Swirl geranium: a bright pink-tinged shade of red that looks more slightly more coral or orange-red, depending on the lighting. It is hard to capture, but visually striking! This versatile day dress features unusual, white cotton accents with red topstitching and rickrack trim on its front that remind me of 1950s “patio” dresses. The cap sleeves have wide openings and small slits at the hems for greater ease of movement. The not-too-snug-fitting bodice has bust darts for shaping, and ties to wrap the dress closed and adjust the fit at the waist seam. Below the waist, small gathers over each hip add fullness to the flaring, semi-full skirt. 2 large patch pockets at the hips sit on either side of a center front skirt panel. A single plastic button fastens the dress at the back of the neck. The lightweight, plain weave cotton fabric is unlined. The dress is in excellent condition, with no issues to note. 1950s and 60s Swirl wrap dresses (or housedresses) like this one are a mid-century vintage classic: easy on-and-off, somewhat adjustable in size, and very comfy to wear!
