Description

This shiny brown cello straw, wide-brimmed tilt hat from the late 1930s or early 1940s is fabulously trimmed with 2 rows of ruffled tulle and polka-dotted netting nestled in between the ruffles. The doll hat style has a tiny, concave crown with a rust brown grosgrain ribbon around its base. The back of the hat has a wide, flat loop of cello straw to help keep the hat tilted but in place, complete with 3 cord loops for hairpins to secure it to your head. A wide inner band of grosgrain ribbon finishes the inside of the crown. Dating from the Golden Age of Hollywood, this beauty comes from a millinery shop on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. Perhaps an aspiring film star of the era may have worn the same eye-catching style! The hat is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note.

Please be aware that the hat will be shipped in a very large box, since it is 16 inches in diameter. This oversize item shipping cost is already included in the hat’s price for US shoppers who choose the free US ground shipping option. International shipping is not recommended for this item.
