Description

A full-skirted 1950s cocktail dress in colorful, rainbow ribbon-striped rayon taffeta, this shirtwaist style buttons from collar to hem with rhinestone-studded buttons. The ¾-length sleeves are made all-in-one with the bodice and have snazzy turned up cuffs with center points. The bodice is shaped by vertical darts, and the fitted waist can be cinched in with the matching belt. The many-paneled, full skirt has been pattern-matched extremely well, with each colorful stripe continuing all the way around from front to back. The dress is shown here with an added crinoline underneath which is not included—although I do have some for sale, if you need one. The satin-striped fabric is a crisp taffeta on its under-side, and is unlined. The back of belt is stamped with vintage size 16, for reference. My last photo shows the dress without its belt and unclipped from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its true size. In very good condition, freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, the dress has 2 minor flaws to note: a small mend at the upper right bust, and tiny mark underneath the 4th button. The lowest 5 buttons are 1950s replacements, but this is almost impossible to notice when the dress is worn. This would make a fun dress for holiday party, since the bright satin stripes remind me of ribbons and gift wrap!
