Description
This nubby wool late 1940s or early 1950s swing jacket or hip-length clutch coat is a deep, rich shade of dark blue, with just a hint more purple in it than a typical navy blue. The perfect light-weight, cropped jacket or coat for fall, it has a flared shape from bust to hem. Intended for a loose, swingy fit, the jacket is most fitted at the shoulders. It has vertical darts at the front of the shoulders, to shape the bust. The jacket has large shoulder pads and bracelet-length sleeves. The round collar folds back to expose the blue-purple twill-weave wool lining in the body of the jacket, for added warmth. The sleeves are lined in dark blue rayon satin instead, to make it easier to slide your arms inside. All of the edges of the textured wool outer fabric (sleeve cuffs, hem, front opening, collar edges) appear to be over-stitched to keep it from wear or fraying when worn. Freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, this well-constructed, nubby blue wool late 1940s or 1950s jacket is in excellent condition, with no issues to note. It should fit approximately a modern size small to medium: the jacket fit me (size 4-6 petite) pretty well over a heavy sweater, but could fit up to medium over lighter-weight clothing.
