Description
This deadstock circa 1950s mock-neck wool sweater in a warm cinnamon brown was made by Garland in “100% Fine Australian Wool” according to its tag. The sweater has a curvy shape with a wide, fitted, ribbed-knit waist. The three-quarter-length sleeve hems and high neckline are also finished with ribbed knit. The mock-neck collar has a pretty scalloped edge. It fastens in front with dyed-to-match, small shell buttons and loops. The Garland hangtag describes the unlined virgin wool as “knit of the finest yarns” and I can attest to that—the lightweight knit is so soft, it feels like cashmere! The hourglass fit is designed to hug your waist in true sweater-girl fashion. Labeled a 1950s size 40, I would estimate it’s approximately a modern medium to large, depending on your preferred fit. Please see the measurements for more details about sizing. In excellent to mint condition, unworn, this deadstock vintage 1950s or early 1960s wool sweater in a rich, slightly reddish brown shade would make a lovely gift.
