Description

A sporty shirt-dress style from the late 1970s or early 80s, this casual cutie features bright red accents that really pop against the main, medium gray poly-blend fabric. Red topstitching echoes the red trim at the underside of the small collar and pocket flaps, inside the inverted center-back and chest pocket pleats, and on the underside of the snap-fastened loop that can be used to cuff up the sleeves from elbow length to cap sleeve length. The snap-closed pocket flaps and back shoulder yoke have the scalloped shape usually associated with western wear. There are also 2 hip pockets at the dress side seams. The curved, shirttail hem has arrow-shaped appliqués at the top of each side slit. Lots of fun details, and a feminine workwear vibe!

The dress fastens from collar to waist with silver metal snaps. The gathered elastic waistband has a faux drawstring tie. The no-iron, mid-weight polyester blend fabric feels like sharkskin: smooth and crisp to the touch, with no stretch to it. The dress is unlined. It is in near excellent condition, with the tiniest bit of dye-bleeding to the red topstitched areas of the collar—unlikely to be noticed. This versatile late 70s-early 80s day dress appeared unworn/deadstock when I acquired it, but I have since laundered it for freshness.
