Description

This deadstock, tailored heather gray dress from the early 1950s features tiny, sparkling prong-set clear rhinestones scattered over its front bodice. The dress has medium-sized shoulder pads, three-quarter-length straight sleeves with turned-up cuffs, and a keyhole slit neckline with a tie at the small stand collar. Darts shape the bust, waist, and hips, and the skirt has a kick pleat at the back hem. 4 small pleats below the  front waist seam add some fullness at the hip. This front hip area is the only part of the dress that is lined, with papery interfacing only, from the waist seam to the hip. You will probably want at least a half-slip under the dress, because of this. The center back of the skirt has a narrow vertical pleat from waist to hem. There is a single hip pocket at the right side seam. The medium-weight, blue-toned heather gray fabric is a rayon and acetate blend that feels similar to woven wool, but a bit softer—definitely not itchy! The dress closes at the side seam with a metal zipper. The original hangtag and self-fabric belt are still present. My last photo shows the dress unpinned from the mannequin and unbelted, to give a better idea of its actual size and shape. In excellent to mint condition, this true vintage early 1950s dress has no issues note. It has been dry-cleaned for freshness, although it was never worn. I love the subtle glamor of the tiny rhinestones trim!
