Description
This hourglass-fit, navy blue Lilli Ann 1950s suit jacket has a huge, double-layered collar and gigantic sleeve cuffs. Both the collar and cuffs have contrasting panels of off-white, linen-textured rayon, diamond-pattern embroidered fabric set into and backed with the slub-textured, mid-weight navy rayon faille that makes up the body of the jacket. The double lapels or overlapping double collar sections are sewn together only at their outer corners—a really unique design, typical of the Lilli Ann brand’s passion for fabulous details! The jacket has large shoulder pads, a nipped-in waist, and a curvy hip-length hem, meant for a slightly loose fit when worn. Darts shape the fitted waist. The three-quarter-length sleeves are widest at the shoulders, tapering slightly to the turned back cuffs. 4 marbled blue plastic buttons fasten the jacket in front. It is fully lined with navy blue rayon crepe. This fabulous 50s Lilli Ann suit jacket is in very good condition. It has some faintly yellowed discoloration at the folded-over edges of the cream collar and cuffs, which should be difficult to notice when the jacket is worn. I have shown the collar completely open and laid flat, to show this as clearly as possible. The jacket has been freshly dry-cleaned, with no odors or other issues to note. It is sturdy and ready to wear. I have looked at lots of photos of other Lilli Ann 1950s suits and jackets, but have not found an exact match for this one, so perhaps it was a less-common design. My last photo shows the jacket unclipped from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size, approximately a modern medium (see measurements below).
