Description
A fabulously full-skirted 1950s cocktail or party dress, this mocha floral lace and peach taffeta beauty features gathered tulle trimming the shelf bust with sweetheart neckline. Sheer lace cap sleeves give the illusion of a bolero jacket from the front, with a diagonal flat pleat around the shoulders and behind the neck, like a trompe l’oeil halter strap. Double pleats of lace curve underneath the ruched tulle of the upper bodice. The dress is lined with crisp, rustling peach rayon taffeta, except at the sleeves and upper back. The bodice lining is boned in front only, while the strapless lining in back is held up only by a snug fit. A matching mocha velvet belt cinches the waist above the very full skirt, shown here with an added crinoline (not included). The dress has been freshly drycleaned and is very good condition. Its only issue is 2 small spots on the lining fabric in back, near the hem, fully hidden by the pattern of the lace overlayer when the dress is worn (see photo). I have tried to capture the color of the lace, which is more of a mocha medium brown with just a hint of a red undertone, not quite as vibrant/slightly orange as it appears in my photos. This true vintage 1950s dress in lovely autumnal colors will be beautiful year-round!
