Description

This navy blue, hourglass-fit, early 1960s sheath dress features lace appliqués trim set with tiny pearls and sparkling rhinestones. The short-sleeved dress is shaped with darts at the bust, waist, and hips, and has an overlapping mini-peplum section, below the waist in front only, that gives the look of a 2-piece set. Cute little bows trim the wide V neckline and the front waist. The straight skirt has a kick pleat at its back hem. The dress fastens in back with a metal zipper. The linen-textured, mid-weight navy fabric is almost certainly a blend or rayon and acetate. It is lined at the front of the bodice only with a light-weight muslin type of fabric, probably with the same fiber content. In very good condition, the dress has 2 minor issues: a few of the tiny pearls have their shiny surface peeled off from age and/or cleaning, and the overlapping section at the waist could stand to be professionally pressed flat (I did my best with my steamer). Freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, this early 1960s dress is quite versatile—it could go from the office to an evening out with ease! My last photo shows the dress unpinned form the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size.
