Description
This deadstock late 1950s or early 1960s cardigan sweater in navy blue was made by Garland in “100% Fine Australian Wool” according to its tag. The sweater has a slightly boxy shape with ribbed knit trim on the low-waist- or high-hip-length, straight hem, the hems of the full-length sleeves, and the crew neckline. It fastens down the front with dyed-to-match shell buttons. The Garland hangtag describes the unlined virgin wool as “knit of the finest yarns” and I can attest to that—the lightweight knit is so soft, it feels like cashmere! Labeled a 1950s-60s size 40, I would estimate it’s approximately a modern medium to large, depending on your preferred fit. Please see the measurements for more details about sizing. In excellent to mint condition, unworn, this deadstock vintage 1950s or early 1960s wool cardigan in a nicely saturated, deep navy blue shade would make a lovely gift. It is vintage cardigan sweater perfection!
