Description
This deadstock 1960s sleeveless dress in peachy pink crepe comes with an attached, matching brooch! The gold-tone metal, peach enamel, pearl, and rhinestone circular brooch is easily removeable if you’d prefer to wear it without, or for when the dress needs cleaning. The overall shape of the shift dress is fairly straight, with diagonal bust darts and small gathers above the bust and below the V-shaped, draped neckline panel. It flares out slightly from hips to hem, but is more tubular in shape than A-line. Decorative covered buttons trim the top of the left shoulder.
Inspired by the dresses of the 1920s, mid-1960s shift dresses like this one were meant to skim over the body somewhat loosely when worn—see measurements for more details about fit. The dress fastens in back with a nylon zipper. A small metal weight hangs from the inside of the front neckline, to help keep its softly draped shape. I believe that the lightweight peach crepe outer fabric is a rayon and acetate blend. The dress is fully lined with peach rayon taffeta.
In very good condition, deadstock and unworn, the dress has a very faint, shadow-like mark on the right front of the skirt near the hem. This is quite hard to see even in bright lighting. I have tried to show it in a close-up photo, but I think it’s highly unlikely that it would be noticed when this sweet 1960s shift dress is worn.
