Description

This 1950s dress and bolero jacket set features pink, cream, and tan silky cotton floral embroidery on a pale café-au-lait or light beige background. The scoop neck, cap sleeve dress has a center front panel with curved seaming on each side of the fitted bodice, framing gathered panels over the ribcage. The full skirt is pleated where it meets the fitted waist seam. A self-fabric belt cinches the waist. The unlined, mid-weight cotton sateen fabric is very soft and smooth to the touch, and feels lovely! The dress fastens with a metal zipper in the side seam. The rose pink jacket has a curved hem at the natural waist, with three-quarter-length sleeves, and no fastenings. The unlined pastel pink jacket fabric feels like a blend of cotton or rayon and acetate, with a crisp hand similar to linen. The pink bolero jacket may have been made by the original owner to match the dress, since it appears (nicely) home-sewn. This pretty 1950s dress and jacket are in excellent condition, but the belt is only very good, with some yellowing to the fabric covering the belt buckle (see close-up photo. I hand-washed the dress with no issues, but did have the jacket dry-cleaned, due to the different fabric used.
