This bright brocade, full-skirted 1950s cocktail or party dress combines vibrant shades of fuchsia purple and poppy red, to fabulous effect! The fitted, sleeveless, boat neck bodice has an hourglass shape created by darts/seaming from the bust to the dropped waist seam. Below the dropped waist, the full skirt has several wide, flat pleats. It is approximately tea-length, or just below mid-calf on my tall mannequin. The dress is unlined and fastens with a back metal zipper. The brocade fabric is lightweight, probably a blend of rayon and acetate. In very good condition, this colorful 1950s party dress has 2 small areas of the skirt that show minor wear to the surface of the fabric: one the right side hip and a smaller area at the center back of the skirt. These are not holes, and are unlikely to be very noticed when it is worn, amidst the busy pattern of the fabric (see the various close-up photos). The original belt is not present, but the thread belt loops could easily be removed if you prefer.
