Description
This fit-and-flare, floral print cotton dress from the late 1950s or early 1960s features a full skirt and a fitted bodice with a wide scooped neckline, which is lower in back than it is in front. Both the neckline and cuffed, elbow-length sleeves are trimmed with teeny-tiny ball fringe—too cute! A narrow self-fabric belt cinches the fitted waist. The crisp, plain weave, novelty floral print cotton fabric is a medium weight. It is printed with what look a lot like either tomato or tomatillo plants in gold, sage, and avocado green, on a rust-orange background. The full, pleated skirt has 2 hip pockets—hooray! It currently has a deep hem, just over 3 inches wide.
The dress is unlined and is shown here over an added crinoline, which is not included. It fastens in back with a metal zipper. This true vintage, mid-century floral print 1950s-60s cotton dress is in very good condition, with some minor wear to the tiny ball fringe trim from normal laundering. I believe that my back view photos are the most true-to-color, which was a bit hard to capture accurately.
