Description
This late 1930s or early 1940s nightgown in silver gray jacquard satin features a pretty design of flowers and ribbons woven into its lightweight fabric. The ribbon sections of the design are semi-sheer, while the rest of the silky rayon fabric is just thick enough to be opaque. The nightgown has round neckline, short, puffed sleeves with fitted cuffs, and a curving, high waist seam with an attached sash to cinch the waist in back. Below the high waist, the gown flares out gently to the full-length hem. 3 vertical pintucks at the back of the neck shape the back neckline and shoulder area. The nightgown is unlined and has no fastenings, pulling on over the head. The silvery-gray rayon satin has just a hint of blue in it, depending on how the light hits it. In very good to excellent condition, this true vintage 1930s or 40s nightgown may be just a bit faded from age, but has no real issues to note.
