Description

This deadstock vintage, late 1950s or early 1960s coat is the perfect choice for early spring, with its sunny yellow shade. For those of us in colder climates, early spring means still bundling up, but this nubby bouclé wool coat will brighten up your winter coat wardrobe. It reminds me of an Easter parade! The coat features a large collar with notched lapels, 2 hip pockets with flaps (still sewn shut), and 3 large plastic buttons fastening it down the front. The slightly tapered sleeves are bracelet-length, with deep armholes dropped just below the soft, unpadded shoulders. Vertical darts gently shape the front and back shoulders and the upper bust. Overall, the coat has a very slightly flared silhouette from bust to hem, intended for a moderately loose, boxy fit. I have tried to give the appropriate measurements, both flat and for wear over clothing, which you can compare to a coat that fits you well. The medium-weight, butter yellow wool is fully lined with yellow acetate taffeta and has 1 extra button sewn inside. The deadstock, never worn coat is in very good condition. It has several small mends (by me), from small munches received during its long storage, but is otherwise in fantastic shape. I think that the nubby texture of the wool will hide them quite effectively when the coat is worn, but I’ve included close-up photos so you can see them clearly.
