Description
A snowy white sheer nylon 1950s nightgown, this would be a lovely vintage lingerie option for a bride! The sheer white nylon tricot fabric is embroidered in a floral design at the sweetheart neckline. Wide, sheer straps of white nylon mesh are layered over the bodice in front, making it slightly less see-through. The straps are gathered at top and the bottom, where they meet the underbust seam of the front basque-style waist panel. At the low V-back, the straps are completely sheer and attached to the embroidered basque waist panel above a horizontal pleat, and more embroidery. Below the waist panel, the skirt section of the nightgown has small gathers and is semi-full, flaring gently from waist to hem. The hem is edged with a band of the mesh fabric, to match the straps. I love the subtle difference in texture between the 2 different sheer nylon fabrics used! The nightgown pulls on over the head, with no fastenings. In very good condition, this pin-up worthy 1950s nightgown has a few tiny picks in the nylon at the back right shoulder and one small burn hole at the back hem (see photos). The hole is unlikely to be noticed when the nightgown is worn, unless the viewer is lying on the floor—no judgement!
