This turquoise and purple floral print polished cotton 1950s dress has a darling, strapless “petal” bust and a matching stole or wrap. The 2-layer bust features a pointed and pleated/gathered outer layer over a sweetheart-style, fitted layer underneath. The boned bodice has a wide waist panel, above the pleated, full skirt. The matching stole is a single layer of fabric, with hand-hemmed edges. The dress bodice is boned at the front and back and the bodice and upper hips are lined with papery interfacing, but the dress is otherwise unlined. It may have been home sewn, but if so it was very well done! The dress fastens in back with metal zipper. Because of this papery interfacing, the dress should always be dry-cleaned, not laundered. It is freshly cleaned and appears hardly worn! This gorgeous 1950s strapless cotton dress and stole set is in excellent condition, and could be dressed up for a summer evening occasion, or worn to a fancy daytime event. It might be best for a petite size, since the bodice is just slightly short-waisted—see measurements.
