Polka dots, meet stripes! This early 80s 2-piece dress set combines a frilly and feminine top and matching pleated skirt, both in black and white polka dot polyester georgette with striped accents. The lightweight, semi-sheer jacquard fabric has white-on-white dots woven into its silky surface, nearly hidden by the polka dot pattern. The blouse has small shoulder lifts to add volume at the top of each elbow-length, puffed sleeve. The V-neck collar is trimmed with a pleated ruffle in black and white stripes. The same striped fabric used for the shirred elastic waist at the blouse hem. The knee-length skirt is semi-full, with permanent pleats below a shirred elastic waistband. Both pieces of this darling dress set are unlined, and both are designed to pull on, with no fastenings. Made either by Diane Freis or one of her imitators, the set has only a size tag present; the original maker’s label in the blouse shows signs of having been removed by the previous owner. This true vintage early 1980s dress is in very good condition. Its only flaw to note is some looseness to the elastic finishing the sleeve cuffs.
