Description
This dramatic 1960s pillbox hat of shiny, lightweight black raffia straw is trimmed with a large rose in black patent vinyl, straw, and velvet. A smaller-sized pillbox, the hat has a flat top that is tapered to be slightly narrower than the head opening. The back of the hat’s crown is a bit more angled, to better hug the back of the head when worn. It was designed to sit up and back on the head—think Jackie Kennedy’s early 1960s style. The straw crown is lined with stiff black mesh and has a narrow inner band of black velvet ribbon. This black straw 60s mini pillbox hat is in excellent condition. I especially love the detail of the velvet and shiny black vinyl leaves trim on the vinyl “stem” of the straw rose.
