Description
This 1980s party dress features a royal blue taffeta bubble skirt with velvet-flocked designs and a black velvet strapless bodice with a sweetheart neckline and a smocked, elastic back. The fun, youthful style dates to the late 80s--or possibly very early 90s. The dress fastens in back with a nylon zipper. The skirt section is lined with plain, unflocked acetate taffeta in the same shade of purplish-blue. The draped rayon velvet bodice of the dress is lined in front only with black taffeta, to allow the smocked back panel to stretch. The front of the bodice is also boned in front only, from bust to dropped waist/high hip, where the velvet section meets the taffeta skirt. Definitely a minidress, the skirt hem hits my tall mannequin at about mid-thigh length. In very good condition, this darling strapless 80s mini dress has some color change/fade to the blue-purple taffeta of the skirt, creating an ombré effect. It presents really well--and is even kind of pretty--but worth noting. It is freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, with no other issues.
Size: XS-S (some stretch at bust and waist).
- Bust: approx. 34 inches reasonably stretched, with some extra cup room in the cups. Fits pretty well at 34B, but could certainly accommodate 34C or possibly 36B, due to stretch.
- Waist: 23 inches flat and unstretched, stretching up to 28 max.
- High hip/bottom of velvet bodice seam: 32 inches flat, stretching up to 35 max.
- Length: 28 inches from underarm to hem at side seams.
- Underarm to high hip seam/bottom of velvet bodice: 13.5 inches.
