Description
This deadstock 1960s shift dress and matching jacket in black and white acetate with a squares and rectangles woven pattern, plus contrasting black velveteen, is marvelously mod! The sleeveless mini dress is mainly made up of the mid-weight, black and white acetate “tweed” fabric, with accents of black acetate velveteen at the inset waistband and decorative pocket flaps (no actual pockets). It has bust darts to shape the upper bodice and a gently flared shape from waist to hem. The dress is intended for a somewhat loose fit (see measurements below). The boxy, waist-length jacket has a body made of the mid-weight, stiff black velveteen fabric, with bracelet-length sleeves in the black and white squares fabric. The jacket closes in front with shiny silver metal buttons. The dress has a plastic zipper in back.
The velveteen sections of the set are unlined, but the black and white woven acetate is backed with fused off-white nylon knit. This “lining” is intact (NO devil dust—IYKYK!), but does have some overall faint yellowing from age and some pale rust-colored marks from storage on the underside of the dress front. These marks are not visible at all from the front side when the dress is worn--see photos. The true vintage 1960s dress and jacket were unworn when found, but I did have them drycleaned for freshness. In very good condition with no issues other than the lining discoloration, the set is 100% wearable. Just add some fab tights and boots to complete the mod 1960s look!

- Underarm to waist length: 8 inches to bottom of velveteen waistband.
- Shoulder to shoulder: 13.25 across back.
JACKET.
- Bust: 38 inches flat, intended for loose fit.
- Width at jacket hem: 33.5 inches flat.
- Length: 17 inches from back of neck to hem.
- Underarm to hem length: 8 inches.
- Sleeve length: 22.5 inches.
- Sleeve width at bicep: 12 inches flat.
- Shoulder to shoulder: 15 inches.
