Description
This full-skirted 1950s cotton dress features a very mid-century dots and circles print in royal blue, black and white. Scalloped loops of piping trim the V neckline and the tops of the 2 patch pockets at the hips. A matching fabric belt with brighter blue piping cinches the fitted waist seam. The bodice has diagonal bust darts for shaping. The cap sleeves have self-fabric bands finishing their wide openings. The plain-weave cotton fabric is crisp and lightweight. The dress is unlined and fastens from neckline to hem with purple-blue lucite buttons studded with clear rhinestones.
In very good condition, this true vintage 1950s cotton dress is slightly age-faded all over from normal laundering. There is some very slight yellowing to the white portions of the print at the underarm and back of neck areas, unlikely to be noticed when it is worn (see close-up photos). The lucite buttons are more purple than what I suspect was their original blue color. This classic 1950s vintage cotton day dress is sturdy and very wearable. The belt is labeled a 50s vintage size 18, which makes the dress approximately a modern M. Please check the full measurements for more detail about fit.
