Maximalist in the extreme, this purple and acid/lime green floral print 90s mini skirt suit by designer Christian Llinares combines the iconic short skirt and long jacket of the era. Wild green daisies and limes pop against the only-slightly-less-bold background of bright purple with tiny green polka dots. The daisy and lime print is focused on the waist area, and across the sleeves at the same level. The hip-length jacket has rows of vertical or princess seaming all round, to shape the fitted waist. The bracelet-length sleeves have large shoulder pads. Designed to worn alone, rather than over a blouse, the jacket has a fairly deep, scooped neckline. Goldtone metal buttons with the designer’s initials fasten the jacket in front. It is unlined. The matching miniskirt has classic 5 pocket styling, like a jean skirt. It is also unlined and fastens with a single gold metal button and a plastic zipper. The skirt has a fitted waistband and curvy hips, then narrows a bit from hips to hem. The whole suit has a hourglass silhouette, fit for a 90s supermodel! The suit fabric is unusual: labeled 100% cotton, is has a ribbed texture and a shiny finish. I would describe it as a medium-weight cotton faille, with a ribbed satin feel. In very good condition, the suit has 3 minor issues to note. There is a bit of fading at the shoulder/top of the left sleeve from age and storage, which is hard to see, and unlikely to be noticed. Also, there is a small area of fading/discoloration at the inner edge of the left underarm, also unlikely to be seen. Finally, the shiny gold finish on the jacket label has been worn/damaged by dry cleaning—not visible when it is worn. This va-va-voom 1990s mini-skirt suit is very “Absolutely Fabulous”—channel your inner Patsy Stone!
