Description
This colorful 1960s cocktail dress in bright floral print polished cotton will be perfect for all of your upcoming spring and summer events! The watercolor-style garden party of flowers include tulips, lilacs, and what look like poppies, in shade of sunny yellow, green, purple and orange. The sleeveless, fitted bodice has a scoop neckline that is lower in back than in front, edged with piping trim. Diagonal and vertical darts shape the bust, above a softly pointed, basque waist seam. The knee-length skirt is the star of this flower show, with overlapping, tulip-petal-inspired pleating in front, from hips to hem. The skirt has a somewhat rounded A-line or gently flaring shape, and is lined with papery interfacing to add body to it. (It is shown without an additional crinoline, for reference.) The bodice is lined with off-white rayon taffeta. The dress fastens with a metal zipper at the center back. It is in very good condition, freshly dry-cleaned (due to the lining fabrics), with some yellowing at the underarm area which more visible from the underside than it is from the outside (see close-up photos). The bodice length of the dress marks it as either a bit short-waisted, or as a petite. This pretty 1960s cotton floral cocktail or party dress would be a great choice to wear to a spring or summer wedding, or other semi-formal fancy occasion.
