Description

This deadstock, never worn, mid-1960s day dress in black acetate jersey knit fabric is trimmed with black and white stripes at its round neckline and around its dropped waist seam, above a pleated skirt. I love the cute little fabric-covered buttons accenting the decorative tabs at the neckline and dropped waist! The short-sleeved bodice has bust darts for gentle shaping, but the overall fit of the dress is meant to be a bit loose. It was created during the 1960s craze for all things 1920s, like the 1967 Julie Andrews film “Thoroughly Modern Millie”! Hence, the dropped waist silhouette, meant to evoke retro flapper style for the 60s crowd. The dress is unlined aside from black acetate taffeta interfacing around the inside of the neckline. It fastens in back with metal zipper. Labeled a vintage half size (22 and a half), the dress will fit approximately a modern extra large. The stripe-trimmed dropped waist seam will sit about 3 to 4 inches above the hips, so bear this in mind when consulting the measurements, below. This mod 1960s deadstock dress is in excellent condition, unworn with its original hangtags.
