Description

This circa early 1960s sleeveless cotton dress with full skirt features a geometric double squares print in sage, pine, and mint green, with plain black piping trim at the scoop neckline and arm openings. A matching black ruffle trims the hem of the skirt. The skirt’s shape is curved to create more fullness at the sides than at the front and back, flaring out from semi-full at the hips to very full at the hem. The fitted, sleeveless bodice has vertical darts for shaping the bust, and a curved waist seam which is higher at the sides and dips lower, front and back. The lightweight cotton percale is unlined. The dress fastens in front from neckline to hem with black plastic buttons. This darling early 1960s green and black cotton print day dress reminds me a bit of a traditional dirndl, and was probably home sewn. It is in excellent condition.
