Description
This pale taupe fabric beret hat from the 1960s is made of lightweight, linen-textured fabric, probably a blend of acetate and rayon. The hexagonally-sectioned crown has a matching fabric tassel on top, hanging from a small loop. A fitted band circles the beret’s head opening. The hat was originally intended to be worn sitting up and back from the face as shown, although you could certainly wear it tilted more forward, if you prefer. The soft, unstructured crown is lined with beige rayon faille, with an inner grosgrain ribbon band.
In very good condition, this cute 1960s beret has just a touch of discoloration from make-up around the inner edge of the hat opening—not seen when it is worn. The hat has been cleaned, but a faint mark was left behind (see close-up photo). This light-colored and lighter weight taupe linen-textured beret will be excellent for wearing in spring and summer.
