Description
Get ready for damp fall weather with this lipstick red early 1980s belted raincoat! The lightweight nylon coat has shoulder pads and a strong shoulder line enhanced by totally New Wave style, tapered vertical pleats overlapping the front and back shoulders. The cuffs of the wide sleeves, the stand collar, and the flap from neck to hem that hides the button placket are all decorated with lines of topstitching. The raincoat has 2 pockets, one at each hip. Small pleats below the front and back shoulder yoke add fullness to the bust area. There are 2 small metal grommets under each arm, for a bit of added air circulation/comfort in warmer weather! The coat has a straight and boxy silhouette that can be cinched in at the waist with the sash belt. It closes with plastic buttons down the front from neck to hip. The coat is fully lined with nylon taffeta in a matching shade of bright red. The outer nylon fabric is a plain weave with a crisp feel and a bit of sheen to its surface. In very good, near excellent condition, this sassy 80s raincoat has one very faint mark at the right front bodice (see photo). I think it is quite unlikely to be noticed when the coat is worn.
