Description
This hourglass-fit 1950s dress is ultra-glamorous in darkest midnight blue velvet! The classic cocktail dress features a notched scoop front neckline, narrow elbow-length sleeves and a wiggle-style skirt with tiny kick pleat at the hem. The bust, waist, and hips are all fitted using darts. Along with a side seam metal zipper, the dress also opens in back with covered buttons from its low V-neckline to the waist seam. Dating from the mid-1950s, the dress appears to have been shortened at the hem, probably sometime in the late 1950s or early 60s, when fashionable hemlines rose. This leaves the dress with a deep, 5-inch hem which could be let back down if you prefer a longer skirt. The dress is lined with purple rayon taffeta. In very good to excellent condition, the only issue to note with this sapphire blue velvet 1950s dress is some minor crushing to the velvet pile, from normal wear. It has been freshly dry-cleaned and is perfectly ready to wear to your next party or event!
