Description
A larger-size vintage top-handle bag, this 1960s black raffia straw handbag by Morris Moskowitz is big enough to fit all of your modern necessities! The bag has a rigid frame composed or two gold-tone (possibly brass) metal rods, capped with tiny bolts. Extra-large, crisscrossed plastic double handles are threaded onto the rods, with the unstructured, crocheted straw body of the purse suspended between them.
The black straw bag is lined with really cute, fruit-harvest-themed, novelty print cotton fabric. There is one slip pocket inside, containing a round mirror (not perfect, but came with the bag). The lining fabric is yellowed around its top edges, which is not seen except when the bag is opened. The black plastic handles have some tiny scratches to their shiny surface from normal use. The brass frame rods have some tarnish or rust at their outer ends. The purse is in good, sturdy and totally useable condition.
Morris Moskowitz was a well-known mid-century handbag designer, who once employed Judith Leiber!
