Description
This elegantly minimalist 1950s sheath dress and matching lightweight swingy coat set is made of oatmeal linen-textured fabric with subtle, off-white floral embroidery. The classic wiggle-style dress has short sleeves and an hourglass shape created with darts at bust, waist, and hips. The relatively narrow skirt has a kick pleat at the back hem. The medium-weight linen-textured fabric is probably a blend of rayon and either cotton or acetate. The dress bodice only is lined with cream cotton or cotton blend, muslin-type fabric. A metal zipper fastens the dress at center back. The matching calf-length clutch coat uses the same oatmeal linen-textured fabric as the dress, but without the embroidery, except for the deep cuffs on its elbow-length sleeves. It is designed for a moderately loose fit, with soft, rounded shoulders and no fastenings. The body of the coat (not the sleeves) is lined in palest pink rayon taffeta. In very good condition, the coat has a faint mark, possibly ink, on the back left. The dress has a light pinkish mark on the front of the skirt and very faint discoloration on the inner edge of the neckline and underarms. Both pieces are freshly dry-cleaned and ready to wear, with no odors or any other issues to note. This oatmeal beige linen-textured 1950s sheath dress and long jacket set will be perfect for spring or fall, and it would also make a sweetly traditional “going-away” suit set for a bride!
