Description

A deadstock early 1950s dressing gown for lounging around the house in true vintage style, this fancy robe is made of icy pale blue acetate satin with a floral pattern. The robe is cinched at the fitted waist seam with a wide sash belt. The bodice features shoulder pads, three-quarter-length sleeves with deep cuffs, and wide, notched lapels framing the V-neckline. The semi-full, ankle-length skirt section has a single patch pocket at the right side. The underside of the satin fabric feels like crisp taffeta, and is unlined. A single snap at the waist and an inner tie help keep the robe closed when worn.

In very good condition, this 1950s dressing gown has faded along the fold lines, from its many years in storage. This has created an ombré effect of pale lavender areas visible against the light blue, original color. I think it is rather pretty, actually! This fading is more or less visible, depending on the lighting. I have tried to show it very clearly in my photos. This pin-up-worthy, early 1950s ladies’ robe is unworn, with no other issues to note.

My last photo shows the robe unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its size, which is approximately a modern small to medium (see measurements). I love the 1950s TV set shaped hangtag, still attached to the left sleeve—so mid-century!
