Description
A candy pink, late 1950s or early 1960s cupcake strapless party dress, this confection combines layers of sheer, pink nylon tulle and matching pink rayon taffeta to create its fitted sweetheart bodice and full skirt. The strapless bodice has 2 layers: a boned taffeta underlayer, and an outer layer of ruffled tulle lined with taffeta. Between these 2 layers, the space is filled in with more pleated tulle, to give the illusion of a larger bust. A pleated panel of pink rayon faille encircles the ribcage from the underbust to the waist. Below the fitted waist the skirt is very full, with a section of ruffled tulle from waist seam to below the hips, and then plain tulle to the tea-length hem. The skirt has 3 total layers: the outer layer of tulle, an inner layer of tulle with a flounce at the hem (like an attached crinoline), and then the taffeta lining. The dress fastens with a metal zipper in the side seam. It is shown here with an additional crinoline slip underneath, which is not included. This fabulously frothy, perfectly pretty in pink, 1950s-60s party dress is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
