Description
This candy pink silk damask dressing gown or hostess dress by Dynasty dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s. It has a chrysanthemums floral pattern woven into its butter-soft, satin-faced silk fabric, echoed by the chrysanthemum-shaped piping trimming each of the 4 large bodice buttons. 2 of these buttons are functional, and 2 are decorative. The kimono-style V-neckline shows a similar traditional Asian style influence. The dressing gown or robe opens completely down the front, with a single silk-covered, hidden button fastening the skirt section where it overlaps on the left side. The fit-and flare style hostess dress has bust darts for shaping, a fitted waist seam, and a moderately full skirt. The skirt is pleated at the sides and back, with a flat section at the center front. The ¾-length sleeves are trimmed with silk piping at the hems. The silk damask fabric is unlined. The reverse side of the fabric is crisp like taffeta. This elegant loungewear dress has great details and was very well-made!
In good, wearable condition, the dress has been freshly dry-cleaned but still has several issues to note:
- Some yellowing to the back of the neck and back of the shoulders, more visible from the inside than the outside of the fabric.
- 2 small mends at the center back bodice.
- Several tiny worn areas and a bit of fading to the outside of the right sleeve.
- A pinhole-sized dark mark on the front of the skirt—too tiny to photograph well.
Perfectly suited for glamorous lounging, this pink silk 1950s-60s hostess dress, dressing gown, or fancy robe may be too pretty to stay at home!
