This late 1930s skirt suit in bright white, woven cotton with a horizontally-ribbed texture has a fitted jacket and a narrow, 6-gore skirt. The jacket has small, notched lapels and vertical seaming to shape the bust and waist. It closes with 3 pine green plastic buttons. 2 more buttons trim the decorative pocket flaps (no actual pockets). The high-hip-length jacket has narrow shoulders and straight sleeves ending just below the elbow. The matching skirt has a high, fitted waistband and narrow hips. There is a very slight flare to its shape from hips to hem. The skirt fastens at the side seam with a single larger shell button at the waistband and smaller plastic buttons in the placket. 1 of these smaller buttons was missing, so I replaced it with a 1930s-era shell button of the same size. Speaking of button replacements, I did add the deadstock, 1930s-era plastic buttons to the jacket, since it had no buttons at all when found. I will include the 2 extra buttons with your purchase. Both pieces of this 1930s skirt suit are unlined, and in very good, sturdy and wearable condition. The jacket has a tiny flaw at the back hem edge, and the skirt has 2 small mends at the back right hip area (see close-up photos). There is also a small (about dime-sized) area of the skirt that is very faintly yellowed. I was unable to get a clear photo or even to see this until my 3rd inspection under a bright light. I think you may not even be able to find it! This ribbed white cotton 1930s skirt suit will be perfect for spring and summer and is perfectly hand-washable, always a plus with early true vintage items!

  • Length: 21.5 inches from back of neck to hem.
  • Underarm to hem: 13 inches.
  • Sleeve length: 16 inches.
  • Width at bicep: 5.5 inches flat, doubled to max. 11 inches, around.
  • Shoulder to shoulder: 13.75 inches.

SKIRT.

  • Waist: 24 inches flat, to fit up to 23.5 max.
  • Hip: 35 inches flat, to fit 33 max.
  • Length: 26.5 inches.
