Description
This nautical-themed novelty print cotton top from the early 1960s features an adorable design of gold stars and red, white, and blue flags with a mildly rude and/or funny combination of images and labels. These include Commodore, Sweetheart Aboard, Coffee Being Served, Blue Marlin, Skunk No Fish, and the ominous Wife Aboard and Mother-In-Law Aboard!
The white cotton poplin blouse has a cute sailor collar above its V-neckline, elbow-length cuffed sleeves, and a drawstring at the waist to adjust the fit. The adjustable hem ends at about the natural waist, depending on how tightly the drawstring is tied. The overall fit is intended to be loose, except at the hem. Only the underside of the collar is lined, with plain white cotton. White lucite buttons close the top in front.
The crisp cotton fabric is very slightly yellowed all over from age, and just slightly more noticeably at the inner edge of the underarms. There is also just a slight hint of dye-bleed to the edges of the red printed areas, from normal laundering. In very good condition, it has no other issues to note. This wacky boating-themed 1960s novelty print cotton blouse will definitely be a conversation starter!
