This black fur felt front-brimmed cap style 1950s hat by Emme was almost certainly created during the early period when Adolfo Sardiña was their head designer (1952-1962)—before he went on to fame with his own label. The unusual hat has a sporty chic that will pair well with tailored clothing, like a daytime skirt suit or gabardine jacket. The shallow, rounded crown and wide, curving front brim of the hat are made of deep black fur felt with a slight sheen to it. The “band” of the hat and the jaunty center-front bow are made of a matte black felt, for a wonderfully subtle contrast in textures! The hat’s crown is lined with stiff black mesh to give it body, since the fur felt alone is very soft and pliable. A comb has been sewn to the center front of the inner grosgrain band, to help keep the hat in place when worn. This effortlessly stylish 1950s hat is in very good condition, with 2 small slits in the crown at the lower back edge, where a hatpin may have been inserted (see close-up photo).

Brim width: 3.5” at center front, tapering to sides
