Description

This lightweight cape or cape-style suit jacket in black and off-white houndstooth wool dates from the early to mid 1960s. It will pair well with a black pencil skirt, in classic mid-century skirt suit fashion, or with trousers to create a more modern, pantsuit look. The wool fabric is definitely more of a suit weight, although the cape might pass for outerwear in a warm climate. The bracelet-length “sleeves” of the cape drape over the arms, with high slits in front for your arms. The front panel of the cape has a band of black elastic attached to each side, wrapping around the back of the wearer to create a slightly cinched waist. The double-breasted style has 4 large black plastic buttons in front, 2 functional and 2 decorative. The V-neckline is framed by a large collar with notched lapels. The cape is lined with black rayon taffeta.

This marvelously mod 1960s black and white houndstooth cape-jacket is in excellent to mint condition, appearing unworn, and has been recently dry-cleaned. Its smallest fit is at the shoulders and bust. I estimate best fit for approx. a modern XS—or a S with relatively small shoulders.
