This shirtwaist-style late 1940s day dress is made of lightweight, semi-sheer, red and white “candy-striped” rayon, with a ribbed texture. The bodice has a pointed collar and notched lapels at the V-neckline. Shirring trims the shoulders above the short sleeves. It fastens in front with 3 square, red plastic buttons set with sparkling rhinestones. The nearly straight skirt flares just a bit from hips to hem. Tiny pleats from the waist to the hips in front add a bit of fullness. The dress fastens at the side seam with a metal zipper. In very good condition, this true vintage late 1940s dress has one small, yellowed spot on the right side of the bodice (see close-up photo). It also has some very faint yellowing at the edge of the underarm seams, and on the inside of the collar, neither of which is likely to be noticeable. This darling dress has been freshly laundered, and has no odors or other issues to note. Because the dress is a bit short-waisted, it will probably fit best for a petite person—see measurements.
