This copper beaded rayon crepe 1940s dress has a short, ruffled drape or mini peplum on its skirt in back, creating a tiny “bustle”. The ruffle sits below a curved seam dipping just beneath the straight waist seam, in back. In front, the dress 2 horizontal seams below the waist, which open into small darts over each hip. The round neck, cap sleeve bodice is trimmed with swirls of copper glass beads on its front side. It has no shoulder pads. The dress probably dates to during or just after WWII, with its knee-length hem and minimal fabric use. It fastens with a metal zipper in back. The lightweight rayon crepe fabric is unlined. This swing-era 1940s beaded cocktail dress is in excellent condition, with just 3 or 4 tiny glass beads missing from the top of the left shoulder. All the rest of its beading is sturdily attached, and the dress has no other issues to note.
