Description
Vintage 1940s shorts by Jantzen in cream corduroy, these Hollywood-waist cuties feature a buckled strap in front, 2 patch hip pockets, and wide legs ending at about mid-thigh. The adjustable strap at the front waist fastens through 2 apple juice D-rings that look and feel like Bakelite. The inseam is 2.5 inches long—short, but not super short! Darts from waist to hips add hourglass shaping in back, above the wide leg openings. The shorts fasten at center back with a metal zipper. The lightweight cotton corduroy fabric is unlined. Labeled a vintage size 14, they will fit like approximately a modern size XS. These women’s 1940s vintage shorts are in excellent to condition, with no issues to note. I was able to find the exact same shorts in a Jantzen Sun Clothes ad dated 1945, giving us an accurate date for the style. According to the ad, the shorts apparently came in “five delicious pastels”. I would describe this creamy off-white or pale yellow color as vanilla ice cream—yum!
