Description
This cream or ivory straw wide-brim 1950s hat is the perfect vintage accessory for an outdoor wedding or 50s-style garden party outfit! The rounded, nearly flat crown of the hat is trimmed with a twisted fabric band and large bow in matching ivory satin. The wide brim is wired at its outer edge, and the crown also has a wired structure tucked under its grosgrain ribbon inner band. 2 small loops on each side of this wired crown will hug the sides of the head, although you will probably also want a hatpin or two to secure it, especially if the weather is breezy. The asymmetrical hat brim is widest at center front, narrowing to the center back. In very good condition, this 1950s cream straw “platter” hat has been bent (either by storage, or by the original owner) into a slight peak at the front of the brim. You can use the hidden brim wire to adjust this, but it will not likely ever be completely smooth. The ends of the wired loops show a bit of wear to the thread covering at their tips. There are no other issues to note.
