Description
This unusual, deadstock late 1940s or early 1950s vintage apron is a style that I’ve not seen before: it has a boned strapless bodice with a sweetheart neckline! This fancy “hostess” bib apron is held up by the hidden boning on its underside (see photo), to pair well with a strapless cocktail or evening dress. Just in case you want to look like you’ve working hard in the kitchen, while still appearing 100% glamorous! Of course, it would also be fun worn on its own for a kitchen-themed vintage pin-up photoshoot…
The crisp plain weave cotton fabric has a lovely floral print of pink and green roses on a bright aqua or turquoise blue background. Rows of red piping trim the bodice and hem. The apron ties in back at the waist with wide straps. The boned bodice makes the apron a bit less flexible in size than other bib aprons. I estimate that it will fit well from 32C/34B to 34C/36B, at maximum. Unworn, this true vintage apron from the late 40s or 50s is in mint condition, and would make a lovely gift!
