Description

A classic 1950s shirtwaist dress, this mocha day dress features a printed pattern of off-white dots and stylized flowers. The lightweight, slub-textured fabric is probably an acetate and rayon blend. Underneath the square neckline is a cute little bow trimmed with white piping. The short sleeves have narrow cuffs, and very small, nearly flat shoulder pads. The dress fastens down the front from neckline to hem with pearly mocha plastic buttons, set with sparkling rhinestones. Darts shape the bust above a fitted waist seam, and the skirt is gently flared form hips to hem. The dress is unlined, with a single hip pocket at the right side seam.

Labeled a vintage “half-size”, the dress approximates a modern petite size medium, with a bit shorter length from shoulder and/or underarm to waist than typical 50s dresses have. It has belt loops, but the original self-fabric belt is missing. Other than the missing belt, this true vintage 1950s dress in excellent condition, with no issues to note. My last photo shows the dress unclipped from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size.
