Description

A to-die-for deadstock 1950s dress for Halloween, or any day you feel like wearing a black and orange vintage outfit! This crisp cotton broadcloth halter dress and bolero jacket set combines a sleeveless halter sundress in pumpkin orange with 2 wide black stripes in front, plus a cropped black jacket with an orange dagger collar and notched cuffs. The dress neckline can be buttoned all the way up to its small collar, as shown, or unbuttoned if you prefer. Cute, berry-shaped black plastic buttons fasten the dress in front from collar to hips. A black patent vinyl belt cinches the fitted waist seam. Below, the full skirt has several pleats in front only. The waist-length, cap-sleeved bolero jacket has a boxy fit with vertical bust darts for subtle shaping, and shoulder pads. Both pieces are unlined.

In very good condition, the set was never worn, and still has its original paper tags inside. However, it does have a set of 3 tiny pinholes on the left side of the dress bodice above the waist seam. These will probably disappear with its first laundering, although I can’t be totally sure. They are very small and unlikely to be noticed, regardless. See the 2 close-up photos. There are also 2 small creases in the surface of the patent belt, where it was folded flat in storage. Since taking these photos, I have reattached the paper size tag in the back of the dress bodice, where it was coming partially unattached. You can easily remove this once you are ready to wear it.

I have included 1 front-view and 1 back-view photo of the dress unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size. It is approximately a modern size medium to large, with a proportionally smaller bust (no bust darts) and larger waist and hips (see measurements). I absolutely love this orange and black stripe 1950s halter dress and would keep it if it was closer to my size. Whoever gets to wear it will be a lucky lady!
