Description
An early 1960s 2-piece dress, this deadstock, unworn set in a cheerful floral print features a short-sleeved blouse and pencil skirt. The periwinkle, pale blue, pink, and green print includes morning glories, daisies, and pansies—quite a bouquet of flowers! The lightweight, semi-sheer fabric is a polyester organdy, with a crisp feel. The short-sleeved top has a round neckline, bust darts, and a notched hem trimmed with 2 small bows in front. The blouse hem reaches to just below the natural waist. It buttons closed in back and should have a somewhat loose, boxy fit, despite subtle shaping from bust darts. The matching pencil skirt has a fitted waistband with small pleats adding a bit of fullness to the hip area, in front only. It fastens with a metal zipper in the side seam and a single button. Both pieces of the set are unlined; you may want a slip underneath, since the fabric is semi-sheer. In excellent to mint condition, unworn with its original hangtags, this 1960s spring or summer 2-piece floral dress could also be worn as separates, of course! The back view of the skirt alone shows it unclipped from the mannequin, to give a better visual idea of actual size.
