Description
This late 1940s or early 1950s day dress in black, red, and gray plaid cotton organdy is a versatile, lightweight and semi-sheer frock. It is light enough for wearing on hot summer days, but just add a cardigan and/or tights and it’s perfect for fall too! The cap-sleeve bodice features a pointed collar, small shoulder pads, and bust darts for shaping, above the fitted waist seam. The skirt flares out gently from hips to hem, with extra-large patch pockets at the hips. The skirt is gathered above each pocket, below the section of ruching stitched underneath the waist on each side. The original belt is present. Bright red plastic and sparkling clear rhinestone buttons and loops fasten the dress down the front, from the V-neckline to about hip-level. Small white dots are woven into the plaid pattern, for added texture.
In excellent condition, this true vintage 1940s-50s dress has no issues to note. You may want to wear a slip, since the semi-sheer fabric is unlined.
